Hi. I’m Christopher Price. I’m a real estate agent and productivity coach in Denver, Colorado.

Before I chose to work in real estate, I was a technology and Marketing consultant. I have an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Venture Management from the University of Denver and I love working with start-ups and growing businesses. Mostly, however, I’m addicted to the passion of entrepreneurs.

The most challenging situation for agents — as with any small business owners — is how not to waste money  and time in the beginning, when you are least able to recover from missteps. Unfortunately, you’ll discover is that there is a whole industry focused on getting as much money from real estate agents as possible (before they quit the business and get a real job). Their products frequently require long-term contracts and tend to cost $30 or more per month. These include websites, client databases, online banner ads, email “drip campaigns,” 800# call capture, etc. These businesses prey on the insecurities of new agents and offer that “if you only get one more deal a year with our service, it pays for itself!”

Nonsense! You do not need any of these when you are starting out.

Right now, the preferred gimmick is online lead capture and social media marketing tools. They will let you know that more than 70% of people start their real estate search online. (This is true.) They will tell you that success is measured by the number of “Friends” and “Followers” you can assemble. (This is not true.) They will tell you that they can get you on the first page of Google. (This may be true, but if they do it the wrong way they can get you banned from Google.) These solutions feel productive, but they are not.

There is only one measure of an agent’s success.

It’s not what you think… It is not the amount of money you make. The measure is the number of people that TRUST you enough to hire you as their agent and/or refer you to their friends and family. How many people trust you to this degree right now? How do you build trust? How do you build trust online?
